A2311590 | Monday, 11 September, 2023 | THIS ANIMAL HAS BEEN APPROVED FOR SAME DAY SURGERY PICK UP.
ADOPTER IS AWARE THAT THIS ANIMAL WILL/MAY HAVE RESIDUAL SIDE EFFECTS FROM ANESTHESIA. THIS INCLUDES (BUT NOT LIMITED TO) DILATED/CONSTRICTED PUPILS, UNSTEADY WALK, AGGRESSIVE BEHAVIOR, & POSSIBLE VOMITING. ADOPTER WILL MONITOR THEIR ANIMAL THROUGHOUT THIS PERIOD. ALL FURTHER TREATMENTS/EXPENSES THAT MAY ARISE THROUGHOUT THIS RECOVERY PERIOD ARE THE RESPONSIBILTY OF THE ADOPTER AT THEIR OWN VET. BCAC WILL NOT BE RESPONSIBLE. ADOPTER ACKNOWLEDGES THAT BCAC DOES NOT OFFER AFTER HOURS CARE.
Post-Surgical Care Instructions:
Anesthesia can cause nausea and vomiting, we suggest that you only offer your pet ½ of his or her normal meal size post-surgery. Normal feeding should continue the following day.
Keep your pet calm. Patients' recovering from surgery should have limited exercise. No running, jumping, bathing, climbing on furniture, playing with other pets or with humans, or other strenuous activities for 10-14 days. Remember to keep your pet indoors, it is crucial to avoid possible infection. Walk your pet on a leash to allow him/her to urinate or defecate and do not take your pet for long walks during this time.
Check the incision site daily for swelling, redness or discharge. Any swelling should be minimal and resolve within 48 hours. A small amount of yellow-orange discharge is normal the first 48 hours. If there is yellow-green discharge, excessive swelling or bruising, or a large amount of blood, please seek veterinary care immediately. Do not allow your pet to lick his or her incision site. If an E-collar was provided it must stay on pet at all times for 10 days. Failure to do so may result in infection, dehiscence (opening of surgical site) and the need for further surgical attention. If sutures are present on incision, they are due to be removed 10 days after surgery.
Thank you for adopting!

A2311590 | Saturday, 04 November, 2023 | FOSTER UPDATE:
1.Are you planning to adopt your foster pet? If not, what is your intention? - Unfortunately we can't adopt Wiggs. We already have one big dog and we travel too much and can't afford to pay for boarding for 2 dogs. However, we are trying to find her a forever family in our neighborhood so we can still see Wiggs in the future. We don't want to take her back to the shelter and we plan to foster until she finds a loving family.
2.Is your foster pet crate trained? - We don't use crate in our house.
3.Is your foster pet potty trained? - Yes. We have a doggie door to our backyard which she can go through anytime she needs to go potty outside.
4.How does your foster pet do with stairs? - Good, no problem walking up and down.
5.Is your foster pet good with commands? - We are training her - she listens to SIT, STAY and COME HERE
6.Does your foster pet resource guard e.g., exhibit possessive aggressive behaviors with food? - NO, she is sharing with our dog.
7.Does your foster pet resource guard e.g., exhibit possessive aggressive behaviors with
toys? - NO
8.How does your foster pet do with cats? - Not sure, but she is ok with our guinea pigs, she is observing them but not attacking them.
9.Does your foster pet chew on things? - Yes, she is still a puppy so she likes to chew on towys, sticks and sometime a shoe, but we are sure she will grow out of it.
10.Does your foster pet display any behavior issues that is concerning? No
11.Is your foster pet good with kids? Yes, she is great with our two daughters and the kids in the neighborhood, she loves to play fetch with them, cuddles with them.
12.How old are the kids that your foster pet was friendly with? 12 and 14 years old
13.How does your foster pet do on walks? Does your foster pet pull on the leash? She is doing very well, she doesn't pull or stop and sniff like our other dog. She only pulls when she sees someone playing with a ball in the park where we walk (tennis, basketball) because she wants to play with them. ??
14.How does your foster pet do in a car? We took her home from the shelter in a car and she did great - she was calm and happy. When I took her back to the shelter for a medical check up she peed in the car, not sure if she was scared that she is going back to the shelter or she just couldn't hold it but it was a one time accident.
15.How does your foster pet behave around other people? She is super friendly and sweet.

A2311590 | Saturday, 04 November, 2023 | FOSTER UPDATE CONTINUED:
16.How does your foster pet do near other animals? She is friendly and wants to play with everyone. Some dogs are a little taken back by her energy but they warm up to her eventually.
17.Does your foster pet behave while you eat? Yes, she doesn't care for human food.
18.Does your foster pet beg for food at dinner time? No
19.How does your foster pet accept treats? She loves treats.
20.Do you know anyone that may be interested in your foster pet? No, we had someone who tried to take Wiggs for the weekend. But their puppy and Wiggs were playing too rough together and they decided to wait with adopting a new dog until their puppy gets older.
21.Are you currently promoting your foster pet on your own? Yes, on social media and we are taking her to adoption events.
22.Is there any other type of information you can share on your foster pet? She is very sweet and loving, she trusts people and we want to make sure she goes to a loving family that will not mistreat her. She might be better as the only dog in the family because of the energy she has. Our older dogs sometimes gets annoyed by her attempts to constantly play with him.

A2311590 | Sunday, 12 November, 2023 | Meet Wiggs! (A2311590)
10-Months-Old & 43 Pounds
Wiggs arrived at the shelter on 09/03/23 as a stray. She has been in a foster home for a couple months and has found no interested adopters yet ? Unfortunately, her foster family is unable to take care of this sweet, sweet girl this upcoming holiday week, and she will be forced to return to the overwhelming shelter environment if she cannot find another home ASAP.
Here is what her fosters have to say about little Wiggs:
She is extremely sweet, friendly and playful, especially with kids.
She loves to give kisses, snuggle, and play fetch.
Wiggs is potty trained and walks well on leash.
She gets along with other dogs and loves to play with everyone; however, she has a lot of energy, and it sometimes intimidates small dogs in the neighborhood.
She gets along with our 70 pound dog fine.
PLEASE help us in ensuring this sweetheart does not have to return to a life at the shelter.
For more information on Wiggs, please contact us at: Foster@Broward.org.
