A2310547Wednesday, 24 January, 2024Meet Lilly! (A2310547) 1 Year & 11 Month Old & 38 pounds Lilly arrived at the shelter on 08/17/23 as a stray. Lilly is a super sweet girl that is friendly and affectionate. Lilly was recently returned from foster care as the foster parents could no longer care for her. Lilly has been around adults and kids without any issues as she displays great qualities as a family type of dog. Lilly is not bothered by other dogs around her as she loves to play and be social! We are looking to place Lilly in a foster home so she can relax and be away from the noisy kennel environment. Lilly was recently in foster care, and this is what the fosters had to say about Lilly: "Lilly is a sweet girl, she thinks she's a lap dog and likes to lick all over you as she is super affectionate. Lilly loves the company of people to include kids, and you will see her best side of her when a group of people is around her. Lilly is playful, does well with other dogs, and she is a beautiful girl that deserves a good home!" So what are you waiting for?? How did the dog do in the car? She rides well in the car. She enjoys them. 2.) How did the dog do on the leash? When she arrived she did well walking, no pulling. However, as she got more comfortable, and started getting to know the area, she began pulling a bit more. She would also get overly excited when she saw other dogs. The behavior wasn't aggressive, she just wanted to play and sniff them. I started training her to not pull on the leash and to calm down when seeing another dog. She's improving, and just needs more training. Please note that it's not an aggressive behavior, she just gets excited and wants to play. 3.) How was the dog around other people to include kids? She's hesitant around new people at first (particularly men). She does eventually warm up to people once she becomes comfortable. 4.) How was the dog near other animals? When she comes out of the shelter, she's fine around other animals. When she gets comfortable (as noted in 2), she gets excited and wants to play. 5.) Did the dog behave while you were eating? Generally she lays in her bed or plays with a toy. Sometimes she get's impatient and wants to be pet. She's never tried to get food though. 6.) Did the dog beg for food? No, she does enjoy treats which helps with training. 7.) How did the dog accept treats? She does well and doesn't use her teeth or bite. 8.) Did anyone show any interest in the dog? No, but many have said she's very adorable, cute, I wish I could adopt her if I could. 9.) Did you take photos and videos? Yes 10.) Did you email photos and videos to: Foster@Broward.org ? Attached to this email. 11.) Other comments: Lilly is super smart. She catches on to commands very quick and routines. She knows the commands: sit, stay, down, off, bed, and making eye contact when presenting a treat. She's a very sweet dog and energetic. She would be good for some one with a yard. Loves to play with Kong toys and eat peanut butter. She loves to lay in the sun on the patio and "people watch". She doesn't bark much so it shouldn't be a concern with close neighbors. She adapts well and very affectionate. Thursday, 25 January, 2024 4:39PMBehavior

How did the dog do in the car? Lilly knew exactly what the car meant and knew how to get in immediately. She settled down as soon as the car was turned on and watched out the window as we drove to the park. Larry was nervous approaching the car and did not want to get in. After sitting with him for a bit, he still did not want to willingly go in so I carried him in. Once in the car, he settled down and was calm during the drive. I did not put the dogs together in the back seat because Larry was jumping on Lilly which she did not like, so she would show her teeth and try to get away from him. 2.) How did the dog do on the leash? Lilly would pull a little but she would stop and check in with me when I called her name. Larry was trying to get to Lilly, but after showing him that everytime I would call his name he would get a treat, he focused more on me. Larry would pull non stop and not settle down while we sat on a bench. 3.) How was the dog around other people to include kids? Lilly and Larry would look at the kids and the adults and kept walking. I would stop walking periodically to so they could watch them but they didn't mind them at all. 4.) How was the dog near other animals?Per the instructions for Broward Buddies, I did not allow the dogs to meet other dogs on leash. I would stop on the side of the walkway and watch how they would react to other dogs passing by. Lilly would look at the other dog and look back at me. Larry was more interested in the other dog and would try to sniff them, but if I called his name, he would turn back to me and continue on our walk. 5.) Did the dog behave while you were eating? Both Larry and Lilly behaved while we ate. They were watching us but never tried to grab the food from us. 6.) Did the dog beg for food? Both of the dogs watched us as we ate. Once Lilly realized she wasn't getting any food, she just went to the window to look outside. Larry did continue to "beg" until we finished our meal.Wednesday, 28 February, 2024 12:9PMBehavior
A2310547Wednesday, 28 February, 2024Broward Buddies Outing Continued: 2-25-24 7.) How did the dog accept treats? Lilly and Larry both loved the treats I brought along for them. Larry responded well to sit and his name if I gave him treats. Lilly knows sit and stay with treats. We gave them both a Greenie each for the teeth. Larry finished the Greenie quickly and Lilly took her time chewing on it. 8.) Did anyone show any interest in the dog? While at the park, no one asked us about the dogs. In the parking lot of the shelter, we were approached and asked some information about the dogs. They didn't ask about adopting because they said they have a yorkie already but that they were beautiful dogs. 9.) Did you take photos and videos? I took videos to send to my friends and family. My cousin took photos of them to send in and to post. 10.) Did you email photos and videos to: Foster@Broward.org? I didn't email photos because my cousin was the one who took the pictures while I got them to look at the camera. 11.) Other comments? Lilly does well with other dogs as long as they're not in her space and trying to sniff her. She did try to play with Larry but her behavior changed quickly during play and turned to defensive. She seems like she would do better in a home with dogs who are older or are socialized already. She's the perfect car dog and loves to just be by your side. She doesn't seem to be fearful of trying something new, since she didn't try to run from the lake that we were sitting by. She even walked a little into the water. After dropping her off, seeing her in the shelter was saddening. She's very timid in the kennel and doesn't show what a great dog she is. Larry is a ball of energy and just wants to being moving constantly. He responded well to the little training that I showed him but would do even better with someone working with him more. He's very sweet once he opens up to you and seems like a cuddler if he would get a chance. He is very playful and loves playing tug. He also seems like he loves the water, since he almost jumped in the lake that we sat by. He is a little fearful at the beginning but will show his true self once getting to know you a bit.Wednesday, 28 February, 2024 12:10PMBehavior
