Persephone (A2219926) is an amazing dog and seems to be potty trained. She is small enough that I easily picked her up and placed her in the back of my car. She also knows how to hop in and out on her own. She is very well-mannered in the car and rests politely in the back seat.
She is a very smart dog who likes to observe her new surroundings before she settles in. Once she gets a few sniffs in around the place, she quickly becomes relaxed and settled in the home environment.
She responds to her name and sit and stay cues. She appreciates being rewarded with a treat but she's also happy with a quick praise. She is also doing a great job of improving her loose-leash walking skills.
She enjoys playing fetch with soft/fluffy toys and has a great time simply lounging around. She also solicits attention and belly rubs from her handler and is very affectionate. She also loves being outdoors and going on walks. When hanging out outside, she keeps herself busy looking at plants and lizards.
Persephone is going to be a great dog for her future family.

|A2219926||Saturday, 04 February, 2023||02/04/23 15:59-BB notes from a volunteer, "Persephone has done consistently well when she leaves the shelter and hops in/out of the car on her own. She seems to be an active dog who enjoys exploring the outdoors. She does not beg for food and she will take treats gently from your hand. She was not reactive toward dogs or horses outside of the shelter and maintained a calm demeanor in the presence of other people and animals. Persephone is responsive when you call her, and she will sit for treats and praise. To help her not pull on the leash, we pause when she pulls and then reward her for her patience. She seems to grasp this concept well and does best with minimal distractions. She is a very affectionate dog who solicits attention and belly rubs. She also enjoys playing fetch with a rope or stick. I hope someone gives her a home soon. "||Saturday, 04 February, 2023 3:59PM||Behavior|

Persephone quickly moves to leave the kennel once the door opens so be prepared to leash quickly. Persephone tends to pull on the leash when walking outside, so I pause when she does this and then reward her for eye contact. In the play yard, Persephone sniffs around and plays fetch with a stick or toy.||Saturday, 01 April, 2023 3:32PM||Behavior|
|A2219926||Saturday, 01 April, 2023||Volunteer Coordinator
While doing a meet'n'greet with a volunteer and her parents, Persephone was very affectionate with people but appeared to be more interested in searching the play yard for lizards etc. She was able to successfully capture one, but readily allowed me to redirect her and take it from her. She could be redirected from her search and appeared to enjoy back rubs and would come up to put her paws in my lap to solicit attention.
Pulls strongly on leash but will look back. Rewarded those pauses to encourage less pulling.

Dog Name and ID: Persephone.
Broward Buddies Foster Parents Name(s): David Orr
Broward Buddies Outing Location(s) Visited: It was raining so we really only got to walk around the Flagler Village area and eat at Colada Cuban Cafe.
Duration of the Outing: 11:30-5:00
1.) How did the dog do in the car? She was great. She got a little curious and wanted to check out the front seat at one point, but for the most part she just kept to herself in the back. She wasn't very interested in windows.
2.) How did the dog do on the leash? She was generally very easy to control, but she is a very strong little girl when she sees a lizard so just be prepared for that. Very easy to re-direct though.
3.) How was the dog around other people to include kids? She was great, friendly but didnt pull towards anyone.
4.) How was the dog near other animals? Barley noticed them. One dog was barking at her and she didnt even pay attention.
5.) Did the dog behave while you were eating? She was perfect!
6.) Did the dog beg for food? Not at all - she watched me eat but didnt beg once.
7.) How did the dog accept treats? Very gently!
8.) Did anyone show any interest in the dog? Not really, other than workers at Colada.
9.) Did you take photos and videos? Yes, they were sent.
10.) Did you email photos and videos to: Foster@Broward.org ?
11.) Other comments: She is such a sweet girl. She was clearly very scared and nervous when she first came out, but by the end of the day she was being very cuddly and attached to my hip. Broke my heart to have to bring her back, I can't believe she hasnt been adopted yet!
