Persephone (A2219926) is an amazing dog and seems to be potty trained. She is small enough that I easily picked her up and placed her in the back of my car. She also knows how to hop in and out on her own. She is very well-mannered in the car and rests politely in the back seat.
She is a very smart dog who likes to observe her new surroundings before she settles in. Once she gets a few sniffs in around the place, she quickly becomes relaxed and settled in the home environment.
She responds to her name and sit and stay cues. She appreciates being rewarded with a treat but she's also happy with a quick praise. She is also doing a great job of improving her loose-leash walking skills.
She enjoys playing fetch with soft/fluffy toys and has a great time simply lounging around. She also solicits attention and belly rubs from her handler and is very affectionate. She also loves being outdoors and going on walks. When hanging out outside, she keeps herself busy looking at plants and lizards.
Persephone is going to be a great dog for her future family.

A2219926 | Saturday, 04 February, 2023 | 02/04/23 15:59-BB notes from a volunteer, "Persephone has done consistently well when she leaves the shelter and hops in/out of the car on her own. She seems to be an active dog who enjoys exploring the outdoors. She does not beg for food and she will take treats gently from your hand. She was not reactive toward dogs or horses outside of the shelter and maintained a calm demeanor in the presence of other people and animals. Persephone is responsive when you call her, and she will sit for treats and praise. To help her not pull on the leash, we pause when she pulls and then reward her for her patience. She seems to grasp this concept well and does best with minimal distractions. She is a very affectionate dog who solicits attention and belly rubs. She also enjoys playing fetch with a rope or stick. I hope someone gives her a home soon. " | Saturday, 04 February, 2023 3:59PM | Behavior |
